EMP - Chuck Jones Exhibit
My family made a trip down to the EMP to see the Chuck Jones animation exhibit. If the name Chuck Jones sounds familiar it is of course due to his huge contribution to the animation genre and industry. He of course drew and created the cartoons of Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, the Roadrunner to name a few.
There are some fun pieces included in the exhibition (photos of original works prohibited) worth seeing. included were cells, concept art and other artifacts from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I especially like the background art for one of the hunting cartoons. I expected to see backgrounds the size of the cells, but the one below (image found online) was around 7or 8 feet wide. They must have moved the cells across it, or the background behind the cells as they animated it.
Certainly worth the trip. It is included with your admission to all of the EMP and SCI-FI museum as well. If you have not seen the Star Wars costume exhibit, it would be great to take them both in. The costume exhibit costs extra.
