Frye Opening 7-15-16

I attend the opening at the Frye Museum of Art on Friday July 15th. There were three new installations to ponder and explore.

The first was "Chronicles of Solitude: Masterworks by Vilhelm Hammershøi from SMK—The National Gallery of Denmark". Hammershøi was a contemporary and colleague of Edvard Munch. I found his interiors to be most engaging. There were some nice portraits as well.

Here is a link to the exhibit.

The second exhibit is,"Inye Wokoma: This Is Who We Are", and is a couple of video pieces juxtaposed with some exceptionally nice black and white portraits accompanied with poetry. The theme here is change, relocation and and movement. It can be far greater understood by visiting the website here, or making your own trip.

The third installation is tilted Xu Bing- Dragonfly Eyes (Trailer). This is a fun video piece that is created by taking public domain and seemingly random internet feed videos from surveillance cameras and assembling them into a story with a cohesive theme. This is just a short trailer for a full length movie. Obviously hour upon hour of scouring the web for footage! Here's the link to this show.

A poster for the film was included

I lied. There was of course a 4th installation, the Frye Salon which highlights the museum's permanent collection.

The Frye is always free and worth the trip. Free parking is located across the street.
