COVID-19 Lockdown Museum Item 7 - Dodo from the London Museum of Natural History

One of my favorite museums period is the Natural History Museum in London. The building alone is worth the trip to visit.

Here is a stuffed dodo. Well, it is really not an actual dodo carcass, but a approximation made by Rowland Ward, one of the greatest Victorian taxidermists, and were first exhibited around the 1890s at the Natural History Museum. It is a composite of swan and goose feathers along with some plaster sculpting.

Apparently there is a lot of discussion as to how inaccurate this model now is. Anyway click on the picture to go to a vice.com article explaining the whole controversy.
