Looks like the galleries are bringing out some of their big guns this month with some stunning shows. Greg Kucera exhibits sculptor Deborah Butterfield once again. Large and medium scale pieces of of course horses, created with found wood, cast in bronze.
This piece involves mixed mediums. The "wood" of the horse is her traditional bronze technique, while the other items are found objects such as plastic that washed up on Alaska beaches and are debris from the tsunami. The wood and debris on the floor are all found objects.
A detail of this exceptional fine casting, assembling and applying patina.
Here is a shot to give you scale.
Here's a smaller piece. Once again another knockout show at Kucera and worth the visit.
