I continue to open up crates in storage and recover works to photograph and document. This is Blue Ford, Drum Sticks, and Rod Serling from 1988. It is acrylic on wood, with the portrait of Rod Serling screen printed. The screen printed portion then was airbrushed for shadows.
This is a technique I learned while painting graphics on guitars for Charvel/Jackson from 1987-88. The below image is of Phil Collen of Def Leopard with his glow-in-the-dark Bella Legosi soloist. It had been out on tour and came back to the factory after getting too much wear and tear. I did the screen printing/repainting of it. It was featured prominently in some music videos at the height of MTV. Apparently it spent a number of years on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. I am not sure if it is still there.
