I was pleased to see one of Marie Watt's "Blanket Stories" pieces at a recent visit to SAM.  I may have posted this before, but I met Marie at SAM around 5-7 years ago while she was displaying a piece and feverishly running a kids participation area at the museum.  It was one of those "I know you from somewhere moments" and it took us a while to figure out where we had met.  It turns out that I had been her high school track and field as well as cross country...

Slowly working in the studio.  I have a few pieces I really want to finish, but time seems to be a bit evasive lately.

Anyway, the frame is primed and ready for a distressed/crackle coat. The upper section's background is finished.  a series of blue shades with the chain link motif.  The lower section background behing the troutI think is a little dark, so I'm going to knock it backa bit and glaze it up again.

The airplane are primed, but I...

I saw this portrait at the Seattle Art Fair this past August and thought I'd highlight it sometime.

This is a new and fresh take on an old and I believe over used technique of backlighting photographs and/or paintings.  In general, I've really never been terribly impressed with the light-box technique as many look too much like a piece of advertising such as a point of purchase display.

The Guardino Gallery in Portland had posted a call for artists this past summer and I actually made an appointment and spoke with Donna Guardino face to face.  It was refreshing to be "vetted" this way.  Digital files, email and the internet can be so inpersonable.

Anyway, I was accepted to show from February 25th until March 27th of next year.  I get the "feature" area and a window space.  I am looking forward to getting some quality wall space in a gre...

The opening for the Crave show at the Columbia City Gallery (www.columbiacitygallery.com) had a fantastic turn out!  I had a wonderful time meeting new artists and old friends.  The show is the once a year non-member group show at this venue.  My cell  phone pictures are not of particularly good quality, but they'll give an idea of the space.  The show is up until November 15th

Everyone needs another Roy Lichtenstein.  This is Still Life with Silver Pitcher from 1972.  I thought it to be a new acquisition, but it appears to have been a bit over a year ago.

Apparently the Virginia and Bagley Wright purchased this from Leo Castelli gallery in 1973 until donating it.

Anyway, a nice surprise to find as I had not seen it before
